Animal Services
Advice
We are always available for advice about your alpacas. Having run alpacas since 1994, and being the largest stud in Queensland
for many years, we have a wealth of experience to draw on to help you with any queries you may have. No question is too silly to ask. Alpacas are just a bit different to other livestock in many ways, and we are always ready to help out if we can.
Mating Services
Double-H Alpacas have a large number of quality stud males in a variety of colours available to service your females. (See our Stud Males page for more details). Our service fees are low for the quality of males on offer, and we are very negotiable for multiple services and services to non-stud females. Please ask for a quote.
Animal Sales
Given the number of animals we have, there is always a good selection available for sale, whether you are after breeders, pets or guard animals. All our stock are guaranteed healthy at time of sale and breeders come with a reproductive guarantee. A selection will often be on our Animals for Sale page, but if what you are after is not there, please ask.
Guard Animals
Alpacas can be very successful as guard animals to guard sheep, goats and a myriad of other creatures from foxes and dogs. Double-H Alpacas has been selling guard animals for around 15 years, and tries to always have a selection available. If we don't have anything suitable, we will try to source some from other reputable breeders.
Agistment
Our stud is situated on the fertile Darling Downs in a tick–free area. Because of the rich soil in this area, we grow healthy, strong livestock without the need for expensive supplementation. We run our stock on larger acreages with a mixture of nature and improved pastures, supplemented by purpose-grown fodder crops to keep the animals in optimal health.
We have been offering alpaca agistment at Double-H Alpacas for over 15 years. Our costs are low, with most normal management duties carried out at no extra cost. Your animals are treated as if they were ours. They run on larger acreage than most alpacas in Queensland, so your animals stay healthy and happy. Fodder crops are grown to supplement the natural and improved pastures on
the property, and to produce hay.
We have been in livestock all our lives, and have had alpacas since 1994. There is nearly always someone on the property, and if
required, an experienced 24hr vet surgery is only 10 minutes away.
Shearing
We shear our own animals at Double-H Alpacas in our purpose-built shearing shed. All fleeces are classed and bagged separately at shearing time, and samples taken for micron testing if required. Toenails and teeth are checked and trimmed if required, and any required vaccinations are given, including 5-in-1 boosters.
As our time is limited, it is not always possible for us to shear animals that are not run on our property, but we are happy to help you find a suitable shearer for your herd.
